The Orthopaedic Centre (Fracture Clinic) provides exceptional orthopaedic and fracture care to the
South East Toronto community. Consisting of a team of orthopaedic surgeons, orthopaedic technicians, medical residents, students, and highly qualified nurses, the Orthopaedic Centre delivers exemplary patient based care from sports medicine to Arthroplasty (joint replacement).
Integrated Musculoskeletal Assessment Centre (IMAC) is a new program offered at Toronto East General Hospital (located in our Orthopaedic Centre) designed to help individuals with Osteoarthritis take control of managing their hip or knee arthritis through both non-surgical management options, or surgery (if a surgical candidate).

What to Expect
The Orthopaedic Centre provides care to both in and out patients. Patients are seen in order of their appointment, not arrival time. Here are some tips on how to make your appointment as easy as possible.
- It is imperative that you bring your health card and a hospital card (if you have one) to each visit.
- Allow up to four hours for your entire visit. Your appointment is important to us and you will be seen as quickly as possible.
- If you have had x-rays done at an outside facility it is very important that your bring them.
- If it is necessary please bring an interpreter.
- As space is limited; please do not bring more than one family member or friend.
Cast Care
Your cast has been applied to provide strength and protection to keep your fracture or sprain immobile allowing the injury to properly heal. Even though your cast is strong the durable, there are a few cast care recommendations to be followed.
Do's
- Elevate
- Exercise
- Keep clean and dry
- Watch for oozing
- To relieve itching, blow cold air down the cast with a hair dryer
- Smell for odours
- Call the clinic if swelling persists or if you have excessive pain or burning sensations
- Bring crutches to all clinic visits
Don’ts
- Wet cast (no showers or baths in unprotected cast)
- Do not stick anything down the cast
- Do not remove or adjust padding
- Do not abuse the cast
