The Department of Laboratory Medicine at TEGH provides an extensive range of diagnostic testing. Many physicians' decisions regarding diagnosis and treatment are based on laboratory test results.
Medical laboratory technologists and technicians perform and/or prepare sophisticated laboratory tests on blood, body fluids and body tissue. Pathologists and the clinical chemist make some diagnoses and, along with the microbiology consultant, service director and quality manager provide professional guidance.
Laboratory Medicine operates a Core Lab 24 hours/day and provides outpatient specimen procurement Monday to Thursday from 7:30 am to 3:15 pm and on Fridays from 7:30 am - 3:45 pm. Th
e TEGH outpatient laboratory does not accept requisitions from community physicians. If you have a requisition for a laboratory test from your community physician, it can be performed at any nearby community laboratory.
