TORONTO EAST GENERAL HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

The Toronto East General Hospital (TEGH) Foundation is the recognized fundraising body for TEGH. It has a long history of working closely with the community to raise funds from the private sector, enabling the Hospital to provide our community with the best possible health care.

The Foundation works hand in hand with the Hospital, but is a separate organization with its own Board of Directors. The Foundation was created in December, 1984, as the Hospital was contemplating major capital expansion, and has assumed administrative responsibility for TEGH's fundraising programs since 1985.

The objective of the Foundation at TEGH is to support the Hospital in providing the best possible patient care to the over half a million people its serves.

The Foundation raises funds from individuals, corporations, foundations and service organizations through special events, direct mail, major gifts, sponsorships and planned giving.

Each year, the Foundation raises this money for annual and capital equipment expenditures based on a list of Hospital priorities as determined by health service leaders and physicians, and approved by the Hospital President and Board of Directors.
